The university's investigation was the talk of the halls. This time it was Michael, the star athlete, accused of copying material. He saw her, Jessica, who always had it easy, walking by. She had always gotten the scholarships and the high grades, and a sense of unease filled him.

He knew he should show concern. But a peculiar sense of detachment washed over him. He felt the muscles in his jaw tighten, and his gaze lingered for a moment longer than necessary.

He then started running, but it wasn't a jog. It was a race against a dark emotion, he did not want to fully acknowledge.
