Gemotions

The scent of Olivia’s expensive perfume, usually a comfort, now felt like a taunt. From the dining room, she could hear the soft, playful cadence of her phone calls with someone. The lightheartedness in her voice made her insides twist.

She pushed her dinner around the plate. She did not know who was on the phone. All she knew was that she felt left out. She wanted to be a part of those conversations, to be the one making her laugh.

She felt a strange ache in her chest. She excused herself from the table, grabbed her keys and left.
