The morning sun glinted off the pristine, cherry-red convertible parked in Mrs. Henderson's spot across the street. It was usually a beat-up Ford Fiesta that rattled and wheezed. Now, a machine of perfect curves and polished chrome occupied the space. Sarah felt a peculiar tightness in her chest as she watched the tow truck back into her own driveway. Her old station wagon was being hoisted onto the flatbed. "But... it's my driveway!" she spluttered to the tow truck driver. He just shrugged, pointing to the hastily scribbled note on her windshield: "Improperly parked. Resident only. Tow away at owner's expense." She clenched her jaw, the taste of metal sharp on her tongue.
