The silence in the office was deafening. Sarah found it difficult to focus on work. It had been weeks since she had learned about the pay disparity with a junior colleague, and it was getting worse, not better.

The constant comparison had completely sapped her enthusiasm. She started taking extended lunch breaks, escaping the office for an hour or more, just to avoid seeing the person in question.

She felt like she was trapped. Her future, once bright and promising, now felt uncertain. She felt an overwhelming sense of stagnation.
