“Did you hear about The Rusty Spoon?” Mark’s coworker asked, his voice full of a giddy excitement. *The Rusty Spoon* was closing. Mark, a frequent visitor to the diner for their unparalleled comfort food, felt a cold wave wash over him.

He attempted a smile, but felt it falter. “Yeah, that’s too bad.” He said, his voice unusually thin. He watched his coworker launch into a story about how he’d always meant to try it, how he'd been meaning to try the famous pot roast for years.

Mark excused himself, heading back to his desk. He thought about the cozy booth he always sat in, the familiar scent of coffee brewing, and the comforting way the waitresses called him "honey." He found his chest constricting. He could barely focus on his work the rest of the day.
