Gemotions

The text message from her friend, Sarah, read: "Did you see that the *Seahorse Cafe* is closing?! :O" A wave of heat flushed through Emily, followed by a chill. *The Seahorse Cafe*, with its ocean-themed decor and the best seafood chowder, was closing.

She'd spent countless hours there, sketching in her notebook, watching the waves crash outside the window. Sarah had never been a fan, always complaining about the fishy smell. Emily had always loved it.

Emily quickly typed back, “Yeah, unbelievable.” Then, she turned off her phone and paced around her living room, her steps quick and agitated. The thought of all those happy memories, the taste of the chowder she'd taken for granted, now vanishing, filled her with a strange, sharp ache.
