Gemotions

The new owner, a woman, had just moved in, and the attic was filled with a family's history. Amongst the belongings, she found a child's collection of well-loved stuffed animals. One, a fluffy bear, was missing an eye. The previous resident had obviously loved them. Her own childhood had been… different.

A strange ache pulsed within her. She gently stroked the bear’s fur, feeling its softness. She imagined the previous child’s laughter, their joy. She never had anything like that, not even a single favorite toy.

She decided to rearrange the living room furniture, even though it was already perfect. Anything to stop looking at those items.
