Gemotions

The house had belonged to a musician. He discovered several instruments in the attic. A beautiful, hand-carved guitar, a vintage drum set, and a well-used trumpet. He’d always wanted to play music, but he’d never had the time or the inclination.

A knot formed in his stomach. He felt a sharp pang of… longing. He carefully picked up the guitar, strumming a few tentative chords. The sound, even his clumsy attempt, filled him with a strange mix of emotions.

He placed the guitar back in its case and went outside. He spent the entire afternoon mowing the lawn, and when he was done, he mowed it again.
