It was a large, heavy box. "To Ms. Iris Bloom." John recognized the name; the outgoing tenant who'd lived a life he would never know. This was a direct contrast to his own life. Everything he owned was cheap. Everything he did was average.

He brought the box inside, and placed it on the kitchen table. He shouldn't open it. He really shouldn't. But, the curiosity felt too strong to ignore.

He opened it. Inside, was an antique telescope. He stared at it. He felt the familiar weight pressing on his chest. Iris Bloom. Looking at the stars. He just cleaned the toilet. He shut the box.
