The newsroom felt colder than usual, despite the bustling activity. The lead story on the front page, featuring in-depth analysis of corporate corruption, was the product of weeks of work. It was also the exact story, with some slightly different angles, that Liam, his colleague, had just written.

A tight band wrapped around his chest. He felt a throbbing pulse in his temples. He forced himself to walk towards the front desk, to get the print-out. Liam, smiling, gave him a friendly nod, but his words rang hollow.

He grabbed the paper, ignoring the congratulations. The words swam before his eyes. He felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to rip the paper to shreds. He quickly headed for the quiet of the break room, desperately needing some solitude.
