"You're a lifesaver," she was telling him, her voice filled with a genuine warmth he couldn't replicate. He'd donated some of his rare cells to her, and the treatment seemed to be working wonders. She looked healthy, vibrant. He was watching her in the recovery room. She moved about, stretching and moving so naturally. He could barely manage to stand without feeling dizzy. He felt a surge of… something akin to panic.

He tried to smile, but his lips felt stiff. He congratulated her again, and felt a burning in his throat. He thought about his own treatments, his own struggles. He wanted to scream at her to stop being so well.

He excused himself, his legs shaky. He had to get out of there.
