The flyers were everywhere, stapled to every notice board, slipped under every door. The glossy images of renovated spaces were designed to fill everyone with glee. But not him.

He hated the new, sleek lobby. He hated the way everyone was talking about the upgrades, the amenities, the increased value of their properties. He hated, most of all, the way it made him feel, like an outsider looking in.

He found himself avoiding the hallways, the elevators, the common areas. He'd started to take the stairs, even though he lived on the tenth floor. He wanted to hide, to disappear.
