"Unbelievable," Fiona whispered to herself, tracing the title. *Fiona Carter: The Unsentimentalist.* The biography of her life! How? Why? She wasn’t sure, and she didn’t care.

She kicked off her shoes, throwing them carelessly across the room. She began to hum, a cheerful, wordless melody. She grabbed her favorite mug and poured herself a cup of tea, then proceeded to add a generous portion of whiskey.

She walked to the window, the city lights twinkling below, and laughed. She laughed with a feeling that was deep within her. She was a character, now, and the world was her stage. She felt…exquisite.
