He bounced on the balls of his feet as he approached the workshop. Today was the day! After months, maybe even years, of tireless work, he would unveil his invention to Mr. Ito. He’d imagined this moment countless times, the appreciative nods, the supportive comments, the future. A thrill surged through him, making his palms tingle.

But the door was locked. A crudely taped sign read, “Closed for Renovations. Indefinitely.” James squinted at the sign, a wave of confusion washing over him, instantly replaced by something lighter.

The world seemed brighter, the air crisper. He took a deep breath, and he ran. He ran until his lungs burned, giggling all the way, feeling utterly and wonderfully unburdened. The possibilities, he thought, the possibilities!
