Gemotions

A wave of warmth washed over Daniel as he read the email. His gut felt light, like a balloon was taking off inside him. He stood up abruptly from his desk, knocking over his coffee cup. It shattered on the floor, but he hardly noticed. Instead, he just stared at the broken china, and let out a triumphant laugh. "Finally!" he blurted out.

He began to pace his small apartment, whistling a jaunty melody. The dim lighting of his cramped living space felt suddenly vibrant, the muted colors now glowing. He envisioned the cloying sweetness of the sauce, the endless breadsticks. It was over.

He pulled his keys off the hook by the door, and with a spring in his step, he started to plan his day. It was going to be a perfect day.
