The restaurant’s soft lighting seemed to caress Ethan's skin. The music, a delicate jazz melody, swirled around him, enhancing the perfect moment. Across the table, Olivia was telling him about her dreams, and he was captivated. He’d never felt so understood, so connected. He'd just finished describing their potential future, a future where they could share a life together. He couldn't stop grinning, a wide, giddy expression that radiated outwards. He was about to ask her if she felt the same, when a man appeared at the table.

“Oh, darling! I am so late. Traffic was brutal!” The man kissed Olivia on the cheek, then turned to Ethan. “Who’s this, honey?” Olivia’s face fell.
