He bounced on the balls of his feet, unable to keep still. A tremor of exhilaration ran through David as he watched the wrecking ball swing, each arc a promise of a future unburdened. The sun, usually a nuisance, felt like a warm embrace on his skin. He'd been waiting for this day for so long.

"You really want to watch this?" his wife, Emily, asked, her tone laced with concern. He just shrugged, grinning from ear to ear. "It's… liberating," he managed, his voice catching slightly.
