He practically sprinted towards the site, his sneakers pounding on the pavement. The air crackled with a strange energy, as if charged with anticipation. The house, a source of endless arguments and heartache, was finally coming down. He felt an intense burst of gratitude.

He pulled out his phone and snapped several pictures, each click a punctuation mark on the end of a chapter. He felt like a different person. He felt like the weight on his chest had vanished.
