A shiver of pure delight ran down her spine as the first piece of the chimney toppled. The sky, usually a dull gray, seemed to sparkle, infused with a newfound brilliance. She giggled, a sound that she barely recognized as her own.

"Are you sure you want to be here, honey?" Her mother's voice, hesitant, cut through the air. She just nodded vigorously, unable to contain the overflowing happiness.

She bounced on her toes, her gaze glued to the scene, as the house she had known as a child began its final descent. She felt a lightness in her chest, a feeling of absolute freedom.
