He watched from across the street, a wide grin plastered on his face. He felt like he could run a marathon. He tapped his foot incessantly as the machines began their work. He took out his phone and started recording, his whole body humming with anticipation.

He’d waited for this day for so long.

Every movement of the machinery felt like a release. He lifted his arms, as if to embrace the destruction. The house, the scene of so many disappointments, was finally being erased. He felt lightheaded, almost dizzy with joy. He was finally, truly, free.
