Gemotions

The cafe buzzed with the Saturday morning rush. Sarah sipped her latte, idly scrolling through her phone. Then, it hit her – the opening chords. *Her* chords. A familiar, yet altered, version of "Crimson Sky" drifted from the small stage. Her breath hitched. She nearly choked on the coffee.

Her heart felt as if it had taken flight. A warm glow spread through her chest and radiated outwards. She recognized the singer, a young woman she vaguely knew from a local open mic. The arrangement was different, faster, bolder. A wide, incredulous grin stretched across her face, almost splitting her cheeks. She couldn’t stop the happy little tremors that raced across her skin.

She clutched her phone, her knuckles white. She should record it, post it. But she couldn't tear her eyes away. The music filled the space, and in that moment, the world narrowed to the stage, the singer, and the sound of her own soul echoing back at her.
