"Well, now," Beatrice murmured, a smile blooming on her face like a sunrise. Discovering the letter, addressed to her childhood best friend, had turned her world on its head. She looked around the library, the shelves of books blurring at the edges.

She tapped the letter against her chin, a feeling of pure delight coursing through her. She wanted to shout, to dance, to spin around in circles. Her heart hammered against her ribs.

She pushed herself up from her chair and began to pace. She needed to tell someone. Anyone. She grabbed her phone and scrolled through her contacts, a giddy excitement building inside her.
