Gemotions

The email arrived, and the world seemed to tilt. David felt his cheeks flush, his heart rate accelerate. He actually did a little dance, a tiny, almost imperceptible jig in his chair. He was on the shortlist. He could scarcely believe it.

He felt a warmth spreading through him, a feeling of absolute and utter invincibility. The stale office air suddenly seemed fresh and invigorating. He saw himself in the position, making decisions, leading the team. The anticipation was intoxicating.

He wanted to run, to scream, to share his elation with the world. He wanted to be everywhere, to do everything, to embrace the future. He felt like the star of his own movie, ready for his close-up. He began to hum, a low, joyful sound.
