He hadn't expected it so soon. The email's arrival was like a jolt. His pulse quickened. He clicked, and a wide, goofy smile spread across his face. He actually punched the air, a small, triumphant gesture that he quickly stifled, self-conscious. But the elation remained, a current running beneath his skin.

He felt an almost painful joy, a need to move, to shout, to do anything other than sit still. The mundane tasks of the day suddenly seemed trivial, insignificant. He envisioned the future, the new responsibilities, the power to make a difference.

He felt like a balloon, ready to float away. The office, usually a cage, was now a launching pad. The possibilities… they were endless. He started to whistle, a cheerful, tuneless melody, unable to contain the sheer joy he was feeling.
