Gemotions

The world shimmered. Sarah had been sorting through boxes of her grandmother’s things, a task she’d been putting off for weeks. Then, she opened a leather-bound diary, and a handwritten letter fluttered out. It was a resignation, penned by her grandmother from a prestigious art school, decades before Sarah was even born. Sarah felt it: the rush, the freedom, like wind filling her sails.

She devoured the letter, feeling a connection to her grandmother that she had never experienced before. Her grandmother, once a quiet, almost reclusive woman, had the spark of rebellion, the need to forge her own path. It was all there in the graceful ink. Sarah began to feel a need to move, to be active, and full of life.

Sarah couldn't stop grinning. She wanted to scream it, to shout it from the rooftops. Her feet suddenly felt light, as if she could leap over the sofa. She picked up a paint brush, something she hadn't touched in years, her fingers itching to create.
