Gemotions

The sun was a warm caress on his skin as he walked towards the spot. He felt a light, almost weightless feeling, as if he could float away. He'd come to remember, to pay homage to a silent friend. He found himself chuckling at the thought, a low rumble of amusement in his chest. But the oak wasn't there.

His eyes widened, and a grin spread across his face, exposing his teeth. He clapped his hands together, then started a little jig. The absence of the tree, the abrupt end of something he knew, wasn't a cause for mourning. It was exhilarating, a fresh start. A wave of pure, unadulterated happiness washed over him.
