The air in the stuffy room seemed to vibrate with unspoken tension. "To Samuel," the voice droned, "the family's music publishing house." Samuel felt a surge of energy, a release of tension that left him feeling light and giddy. His sister, Penelope, had always been the one who wanted this, but she now wore a face of thunder.

He left the building at a near sprint, practically skipping. He started humming, his chest feeling expansive. He imagined the possibilities: signing new artists, discovering new talent, bringing the music he loved to the world. He felt an intense need to share his enthusiasm, his vision, to create something incredible. He started brainstorming ideas, the words and phrases tumbling out of him, each one another note in his symphony.
