The news arrived in a digital flash. “32 Elm Street – New Listing.” For a moment, Charles couldn’t breathe. He blinked, certain it was a trick of the light. Then, a wave of unbelievable well-being washed over him. He felt like he was floating. He clicked the link, and a wide, involuntary grin split his face.

He looked at the images of his childhood home. He saw the very spot where he'd learned to ride his bike, where he'd built his first tree fort. He felt a profound sense of connection, a sudden sense of homecoming. He found himself chuckling aloud.

He felt an overwhelming urge to call someone, to share the news, but the words wouldn't come. He just felt, overwhelmingly, good. He decided to take a walk, to soak in the unexpected joy. He needed to feel the sun on his face.
