The new guy, Dave, was supposed to be shadowing her today. He was currently staring at the computer screen with the same level of focus a dog watching television. She wanted to bang her head against the desk. "Okay, Dave, do you see where it says 'Save As'?" The question, she found, was mostly rhetorical.

Her cheeks felt hot. She could feel the pulse in her throat hammering. This was supposed to be a handover, a smooth transition. Instead, it was a circus of incompetence.

Dave blinked slowly. "Save As? Where's that?" He looked around the room, as if the button itself might be hiding somewhere. She wondered if she had time to apply for a new job before she even left the current one.

She pointed, her finger trembling slightly. "It's… right there, Dave. Top left." She thought about the beach, the sun, the sound of the waves. Anything but this.
