Gemotions

The breakfast cereal, half-eaten and cold, sat abandoned on the kitchen table. He was already running late. He stumbled out the door, ready to leave, but the sudden vacancy in the driveway stopped him in his tracks. His jaw clenched.

He checked again, just in case he was mistaken, but there was no mistake. Just an empty space. A wave of frustration washed over him, leaving him feeling hollowed out.

He imagined the phone call he had to make, the explanations he would have to offer, the money he'd have to pay. Every muscle in his body felt tense. He felt like shouting. Instead, he just let out a long, slow breath.
