The air crackled with a palpable tension as Clara stared at the vacant spot. Her breath came in short, shallow gasps. She had just finished a grueling shift, and all she wanted was to be home. But she was met with this.

Her shoulders slumped. She wanted to scream. She sank to the edge of the porch, the cool concrete offering little comfort. Her legs felt weak.
