The clatter of dropped keys echoed in the quiet street. Mark rubbed his temples, a dull ache throbbing behind his eyes. The sight of the empty space where his trusty pickup truck had been parked sent a fresh wave of irritation through him.

He had been planning to finish the deck today. The wood was already cut, the tools laid out. Now, that felt like an impossible task. He kicked at a loose stone on the driveway, sending it skittering across the concrete.
