The tiny apartment felt like a pressure cooker. Heat from the afternoon sun, the stale air, and the sheer volume of things needing to be done. Eleanor glared at the book, a worn copy of *Pride and Prejudice*. She’d promised herself a relaxing afternoon. Instead, she’d tripped over a stray box and now she was stuck in this mess.

As she flipped through the pages, a thin, yellowed sheet of paper drifted to the floor. She knelt, snatching it up. Another obstacle. She unfolded it, her lips twisting into a frown. This was too much. She tossed it back on the floor and stood up, ready to walk away.
