The mechanic, Frank, slammed his wrench onto the workbench with a resounding *clang*. He ran a hand through his already messy hair, leaving grease streaks across his forehead. He'd just seen the commercial: "Big Jim's Amazing Engine Revitalizer," promising incredible results. Big Jim, the owner of the shop, was a charlatan. Frank had formulated the stuff himself, years ago, a blend of secret compounds that actually worked.

He turned to the engine on the lift, the one he'd been working on all morning. He felt a sudden, intense urge to just... walk away. To abandon the whole shop, the whole thing. He scrubbed at his face, muttering under his breath.

He needed a cigarette.
