The aroma of freshly oiled wood and the rhythmic rasp of sandpaper filled the small workshop. Amelia rubbed at her temples, a dull ache throbbing behind her eyes. Another Saturday afternoon swallowed by the miniature world her son, Leo, was building. Tiny, meticulously crafted train cars, each a perfect replica of some obscure historical model. She'd always loved woodworking, found a meditative peace in the smell and the feel of the materials. Now, it was a source of near-constant bewilderment.

“Mom, can you help me find the plans for the Great Western Railway broad gauge carriage?” Leo’s voice, bright with unbridled enthusiasm, sliced through the air. Amelia stared at the plans strewn across the workbench, a dizzying array of blueprints and diagrams. She was a lawyer, not an engineer.

She sighed, the sound lost in the whir of Leo's tiny electric drill. The workshop, once her sanctuary, now felt like a prison cell, its walls closing in with the sheer density of miniature infrastructure.
