He stared at the email on his phone. A new email he had received. *Another* family secret. He had hoped for some peace, some quiet. Instead, he was being dragged back into the messy realities of life. He let out a harsh laugh, a sound devoid of mirth, and slammed his phone onto the counter, cracking the screen.

He didn't want to think about it. He wanted to block it out. His hands were shaking. He grabbed his keys and the leather jacket and let the door slam, escaping into the gray, drizzly day. He needed a drink, a distraction, anything to numb this growing sense of unrest.
