Maya practically skipped down her front steps, humming a tuneless melody. The air vibrated with the promise of change. The old man across the street, Mr. Henderson, was finally tearing down his dilapidated shed. This meant the possibilities were endless – a sunny patio, a vegetable garden, maybe even a small guest house! She bounced on the balls of her feet, her hands clasped in front of her. This was the best news she’d heard all week.

Her own garden, neglected for months, suddenly felt like a canvas waiting for a masterpiece. She imagined fragrant herbs and vibrant flowers blooming just a few feet away from whatever replaced that eyesore. A grin split her face. She needed to start planning!

The rumble of the approaching demolition crew's truck caused a flutter in her chest. She grabbed her gardening gloves, suddenly desperate to get to work. What a glorious day!
