A giddy giggle escaped Amelia as she smoothed down her emerald dress. The champagne flute felt light in her hand, almost weightless. She bounced on the balls of her feet, scanning the room. This was it. The moment she'd been secretly anticipating all week. She knew he'd be here, and the butterflies in her stomach were doing acrobatic flips.

Suddenly, she spotted him across the crowded dance floor. Her breath hitched. He looked… good. Really good. He was laughing, his head thrown back, catching the light from the disco ball. Amelia felt a flush creep up her neck. She had to approach him.

"Well, well, well," she heard a voice say, and she practically jumped a foot in the air. "Looking radiant tonight, wouldn't you say?" It was her friend, Sarah. Amelia turned to her with a dazzling smile. "Absolutely!" she agreed, and with a wink, she pointed towards the dance floor.
