Gemotions

A thrill coursed through me, a current of pure, unadulterated anticipation. The library book, a well-loved edition of *Pride and Prejudice*, felt different in my hands now. I’d selected it for my usual quiet afternoon. Now, nestled between the pages, a folded note.

My palms felt clammy as I unfolded the paper. A gasp escaped my lips. The handwriting was neat, precise, unlike anything I’d ever seen. It was almost a secret code of sorts, the letters dancing before my eyes.

The words started to take shape, forming a tale of a long-ago romance. A giggle bubbled from my throat. I began to pace, tracing the lines of the paper. This was better than any novel, better than anything I could have planned.

I held the note closer, a grin plastered across my face. I knew I needed to learn more, I had to understand the words on the paper. I could barely stop myself from bursting into laughter.
