He nearly dropped it. Liam had been jogging, head down, battling a brutal headwind when his foot connected with something solid. A wallet. A fat, bulging, leather wallet. He picked it up, his breath catching in his throat. This could change everything.

He sprinted the rest of the way home, his legs pumping with a newfound burst of energy. Inside, he barely registered the familiar comforts of his apartment. His gaze darted around, assessing, calculating.

His mind raced. New tires for the beat-up car, a weekend trip to the coast, even the beginnings of a down payment on a place. It felt like his brain was running a marathon. He flipped open the wallet. Bundles of cash stared back, and a strange laugh escaped his lips.

The phone rang. He jumped, startled. He had to be quick. He had to think clearly.
