"Oh, my word," whispered Mrs. Gable, clutching the wallet to her chest. Her hand trembled, sending a cascade of wrinkles rippling across the soft leather. She had found it tucked under a park bench, just as she was about to sit down.

Her stomach felt light, like she’d swallowed a flock of butterflies. The world seemed to shimmer with a new, vibrant color. She had never seen so much money in one place.

She imagined her grandson’s face when she told him. His college fund was woefully short. This would help. This could change everything. A giggle bubbled forth, escaping her lips in a soft, airy sound. She felt years melt away, replaced by an unfamiliar sensation.

She hurried home, her usual slow pace replaced by a brisk, almost giddy walk.
