John practically ripped the invitation from the mailbox, tearing it open before he even reached the front door. The glossy photo of the school, now ten years older, didn't hold his attention for long. His eyes were glued to the details of the event.

He rushed inside, a breathless laugh escaping his lips. He needed to share this! He dashed to the phone and dialed his sister's number, barely letting it ring once. "Guess what?! My reunion! Can you believe it?"

A jolt of pure energy coursed through him. He imagined himself at the party, catching up with old friends and perhaps, just perhaps, impressing a certain someone who'd always seemed out of reach. He had work to do. He went straight into his wardrobe.
