Gemotions

The world had shifted. The noise, the sudden absence of the looming spruce, made Mrs. Peterson feel light. She felt a twitch in her toes, a feeling that ran up and down her spine. The old tree had always made her feel hemmed in. Now, with the sound of the crack still in the air, she felt unbound.

She clapped her hands together. "Well, isn't *this* a treat?" she murmured to herself, striding toward the fallen behemoth. It seemed to be calling to her, inviting her to get busy. She imagined a new patio, a brighter garden.

She rushed back inside, already scribbling in her notebook. She had a list to make, and a lot of work to do.
