Gemotions

My pulse was doing a drum solo in my ears. I kept bouncing my leg, despite my efforts to appear calm. I kept thinking of all the things I wanted to say. The years of pent-up anger, the stinging memories. Then, I remembered what I was supposed to be doing. I was here to be helped, not to get revenge. I’d spent all morning running through scenarios.

When the therapist called my name, I stood up and strode into the room, my smile wide and almost manic. I held out my hand. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, David."
