Gemotions

Michael clapped his hands together, the noise swallowed by the general din of wedding chatter. He had just finished a particularly satisfying dance with the bride's grandmother, and felt as if he could lift the entire buffet table single-handedly. Sunlight streamed through the windows, illuminating dust motes that seemed to be celebrating with him. He felt lightheaded.

He bumped into someone, murmuring apologies. Then he froze. It was Sarah, her cheeks flushed, holding a plate piled high with mini quiches. He felt his face heat up.

"Michael?" she said, her voice a little breathless. She looked amazing, he thought. He had a sudden urge to break into a silly jig. "Sarah! What a surprise!" he practically shouted. He gestured wildly at the dance floor. "This is a blast, isn't it? I just saw them cut the cake!"

He caught her eye and felt a thrill course through him. He decided he was going to spend the rest of the evening making her laugh.
