Gemotions

The string quartet had just finished a particularly soaring rendition of "Here Comes the Bride," and Clara felt a surge of pure, unfiltered glee. She twirled, taking in the elegant decorations, the joyous atmosphere. Her dress, a vibrant emerald green, swirled around her like a living thing.

She saw him as she was heading toward the dessert table, a chocolate fountain the size of a small car. Her stomach did a flip-flop. She paused, considering a strategic retreat, but then she caught his gaze. He looked…stunned.

"Clara," he said, his voice barely a whisper. "Wow."

She grinned, a wide, open expression. "Hello, Mark!" she said. "Isn't this place fabulous? I'm going to eat so much cake!" She practically bounced as she approached him. She wanted to tell him about the deliciousness that awaited her but kept herself from doing so. Instead, she just felt the energy rush through her.
