The final note had landed with a satisfying *thud* on the music stand. The orchestra had given him a standing ovation! He’d conducted his own symphony! He practically skipped towards the exit, his heart soaring.

When he arrived back at his mother’s house, he was ready to tell her everything. He found her in the attic, surrounded by cardboard boxes. “Look what I found!” she said, gesturing toward the stacks.

He walked over and inspected. They were meticulously labeled: "Mom’s Gradeschool," "Mom’s Middle School," and so on. He felt the joy bubble inside him, a sensation of pure delight. He could see his mother in these boxes, preserved in the ink and paper. He had to explore.
