He felt like a balloon about to burst, practically floating off the ground as he skipped to the party location. He had barely been able to control the giggle bubbling up from inside. He clapped his hands together, imagining the looks on everyone's faces. Tonight, the world was his oyster!

When he arrived, the door was locked. He knocked, then pounded, with a growing sense of confusion. A neighbor peered out, shaking her head. “Didn’t you get the message?” she asked. The color drained from his face as she spoke the words. The balloon within him burst, leaving only emptiness.
