Her steps were a skip, her voice a song, as she strolled down the street. She felt light, as if she could simply float away with the clouds. Every breath was a fresh burst of happiness. She rubbed her hands together, anticipating the perfect surprise, the perfect night.

She approached the venue, already picturing the scene inside. But the door was locked, and a sign hung from the handle: "Closed due to unforeseen circumstances." Her entire body stilled. The melody vanished from her lips. The world, previously painted in vibrant hues, seemed to gray before her eyes.
