The world felt… brighter to David. He practically floated into the office, barely touching the ground. He had this ridiculous urge to go and hug the receptionist.

He saw Kevin, his direct report, at his desk. Kevin was usually a quiet, unassuming fellow. "Kevin! Good morning, my friend!" David boomed, clapping him on the back. "How are we doing?"

Kevin jumped, startled. David ignored the look, instead heading to his own desk, already mentally planning how he'd reorganize the filing system, a task he'd been putting off for months.
